With the Oscars over, the awards season hopped across ‘the pond’ and touched down in sunny Wales. It was a fantastic night for the Woo Crew at the annual Welsh Business Awards, as Woosabi took home the prize for best Technology Application.
The awards were run by the South Wales Chamber of Commerce, in association with the University of South Wales. Tuxes were donned and champagne glasses clinked as the team eagerly awaited the announcement, made by Huw Evans, the Director Western Power. Upon presentation of the award, the chamber stated that Woosabi had pulled ahead of the competition for three main reasons:
- The software caters for a clear gap in the market for business support software for start-ups and small businesses.
- Woosabi has identified the market size and opportunity and understands the essentials needed to run small businesses.
- The software cleverly tackles the obstacles to business software adoption faced by start-ups and small businesses.
Graham Morgan, director of the South Wales Chamber of Commerce, said: “Businesses named as finalists, as well as the winners, should be very proud of their achievements and they have all shown that it is still possible to achieve excellence despite the challenges of recent years. Their example should help to further strengthen returning confidence in the marketplace in Wales.”
As a winner, Woosabi will now be encouraged to submit an entry to the British Chamber of Commerce Awards in spring this year. Welsh businesses have traditionally performed well against UK-wide competition and a number have successfully secured a share of the prize money.
Big congratulations to all of the night’s winners and nominees, and a huge thank you to all of our users that made this recognition possible!by
